Dulce Middle School
Serving the Needs of the Students and Community
I am Bob Cooke and am the principal at Dulce Middle School (DMS). Having been in the Dulce community for nearly 20 years, I worked at the high school for a couple of years before taking on a 14-year position at the Jicarilla Higher Education Program during which time I served the community for 4 years on the Dulce Independent School Districts school board. I then came back to the high school as the automotive and Spanish teacher and later moved to Dulce Elementary School as Head Teacher/Administrator. I have a B.A. degree in Linguistics and Spanish (double major), an M.A. in Linguistics, a certificate and A.A.S. in Instrumentation and Control, and a certification in Educational Leadership.
At DMS, the students’ safety, education and overall well-being are of the utmost importance. The staff at DMS works as a team to create a safe, inviting environment where the students’ needs, desires and concerns are considered as much as the state mandated curricula and standards. We want to grow the whole person and assist each one to become an outstanding, self-sufficient and productive citizen as he/she ventures into the world.
Through rigorous classroom instruction and special intervention programs, students will raise their classroom and test scores. Furthermore, through place-based and project-based instruction (PBL), education will become more meaningful and useful to the students, more interesting to teach for the teachers, and more beneficial for the communities in which these students will work in the future.
We at DMS urge parents, guardians, community members and others to become an integral part of the team and help make this the best school in the state. We know we have challenges ahead, but we can really use everyone’s support and positive input, so come visit the school and your student’s classroom often.
